The skies are grey, there seems to be a constant drizzle and the summer's dragging its heels, but that's no reason why our interior design has to be dreary too.
In fact, with a wet and windy July ahead, a splash of colour and a dash of brightness may be exactly what we need to lift the spirits and have a bit of fun with our interior design.
And when it comes to bright, funky and fun, what better colour to bring into the home than a splash of yellow?
"All yellow - shades of yellows are the popular choice for this summer through to winter - warm rich yellows and burnt oranges," says Rishi Subeathar, founder of eico paints.
"Looking further ahead, in times of economic gloom people try to uplift themselves with colour, so once again it is going to be a palette of very eye-popping spring brights for 2013."
Although when used properly yellow can work well in any room of the house, it's sunny and bright nature makes it a great fit for the bathroom.
You can quite easily get away with painting your four walls either a pale yellow or a sophisticated golden tone, but if you're not sure you want to go all out, yellow works well as a simple pop of colour.
Yellow tiling behind your bathroom taps or lemon accessories such as towels, cabinet doors or even bins are a great way to bring a bit of sunshine to the bathroom without risking overkill.
However, if you're not feeling quite confident enough to get creative with yellow hues in your interior design, Rishi points out that metallics are also set to be popular this summer.
"We are also seeing a huge trend in stunning metallic finishes this season, which add a whole new dimension, look and feel to a room," he adds.
"Shades of bronze and gold are the most popular - they simply shimmer in the summer light to gorgeous effect."
