Firstly, they do not wear down as easily as the water flow is controlled by the gaps in two sets of discs lining up.

Secondly, they are much easier to operate as there is little resistance between two sliding discs. The tap is also protected as limescale cannot form as easily.

There is also a selection of taps which feature a special hose. Most standard taps feature a pull out hose that extends to up to one metre in length from the fixed spout. By allowing you to manoeuvre around large and awkward dishes, they make washing a doddle. Other taps feature a directional hose, which bends but does not extend. Depending on the variety, you can change the flow of water to a spray at the press of a button.
