Bathroom Fittings of the Future

Choose Your Style, Style Guides, Weird & Wonderful

The popularity of contemporary bathroom ideas has boomed in recent years, and the reasons for this are multitudinous.

Designers have succeeded in marrying minimalist aesthetics with practicality and efficiency, eradicating the stereotype that contemporary design is all style and no substance. At the same time, bathroom specialists have increased the amount of modern bathroom suites, fittings and furniture across the spectrum from value to bespoke. This makes it more affordable for people to incorporate this look into their bathrooms.

New-Age Luxury Bathroom Ideas

With this increase, home designers have pushed the boundaries by going beyond the stark white walls and space-age furniture that is often conjured in our minds when we think about new-age bathroom ideas.

This imagining doesn’t stray too far from the truth in some cases but, as the picture above proves, there is plenty of scope for individual interpretation of the principles that define the style.

Contemporary Bathrooms with a Vintage Streak

This effort is a particularly interesting take as it does away with the stylish reflective surfaces and gentle curves that typify the genre.

Instead, the designer has gone with a rough and rustic minimalist aesthetic, with the floor constructed of unpolished and uneven wooden planks and an arid, washed-out pastel white for the walls.

It does seem somewhat influenced by vintage touches that have been applied in our traditional suites.

These include our diverse Georgia suites displayed in the bathroom pictures. The art of the bathroom lies in how these Victorian-inspired bathrooms are straightened out to look a la mode through the application of stylish slants and curves.

Chic Urban Bathroom

This open-plan design has abandoned the bright whites and creams that are usually found in bathrooms and instead goes for black walls and stone grey tiles. Despite being rather spacious, contemporary bathrooms do not always incorporate vast amounts of storage space, but this example features floor-standing cupboards to store towels and other bathroom accessories.

Welcome to my bathroom!

At the opposite end of the scale, this bathroom simply consists of a freestanding bath and a floor-standing tap on one side of the low dividing wall, and a seating area on the other. This may suggest going against traditional bathrooms setups where privacy is valued, instead attempting to incorporate sociability into the bathroom experience.
